On October 4, 1979, Blessed Pope John Paul II visited the Shrine of St. John Neumann and prayed before the saint's tomb. For some time we have had a marker on the exterior of the church reminding us of the happy occasion, but until now we had nothing in the body of the sanctuary itself. Thanks to a generous donor we have now installed in the floor immediately in front of St. John Neumann's remains a beautiful mosaic picturing the coat of arms and motto of Blessed Pope John Paul II.
When Blessed Pope John Paul II addressed the people at the shrine during his visit, he said, "In comparison to the love of Jesus, everything else is secondary. And without the love of Jesus, everything else is useless." May the lives of both St. John Neumann and Blessed Pope John Paul II inspire us always to a deeper love of Christ.
